Maine Children's Growth Council


A Council that coordinates state, local and community partners, seek to achieve sustainable social and financial investment in the healthy development of Maine ’s young children and their families. Review and address recommendations of legislative studies, advisory committees and the Children’s Cabinet and implement the long-term plan for a unified, statewide early childhood services system.


 
Maine Children's Alliance

The Maine Children's Alliance (MCA) is committed to improving the lives of all Maine's children, youth, and families. By collecting and analyzing data on children and their health, economic and demographic status, we seek to link research topractice and public policy.  We regularly bring diverse groups together in coalitions that support policy initiatives that benefit children, providing oversight in state policy arenas and serving as a resource on children and family policy issues at the local and national levels.



 
Maine Association for Child Care Resource Development Centers (RDCs)

The Maine Association of Child Care Resource Development Centers: 
Provides technical assistance to the local RDCs,

Collects, analyzes and reports current child care data and research, including data on child care supply and demand,

Supports the local RDCs in offering child care and parenting information and resources to families.

Supports the local RDCs as they educate and engaqge child care providers about the Quality Rating System (QRS), a state program used as a tool for parents to recognize and choose quality care for their children.

Supports the lacal RDCs as they educate and engage parents about qualiry child care.


Supports the local RDC as they educate and engage elected officials and decision makers about quality child care. 

 


 
Maine Roads To Quality

The purpose of Maine Roads to Quality is to further the joint goals of the Office of Child & Family Services, Maine DHHS and the Muskie School, USM of promoting and supporting professionalism in the early care and education field. In particular, the Center works to promote the quality of early care and education, address the training and education needs of all early care and education professionals, develop multiple ways for professionals to achieve their career goals, increase linkages between training and formal education, recognize and celebrate professionalism, monitor the effectiveness of the career development system, and collaborate with and unite partners to achieve the above.


 
MeAEYC

The Maine Association for the Education of the Young Child is the State Affiliate for the National Association For the Education of the Young Child (NAEYC.)

The purpose of the Maine Association for the Education of Young Children is to serve and act on the behalf of the needs, rights, and well-being of all young children in Maine and their families, with special emphasis on developmental and educational services and resources and fostering the growth and development of the membership in their work with, and on behalf of, young children.

Maine Equal Justice Project

The mission of Maine Equal Justice Partners (MEJP) is to find solutions to poverty and improve the lives of people with low income in Maine. We accomplish our mission through:

  • Public policy advocacy in the legislature and with governmental agencies
  • Legal representation and impact litigation on systemic issues
  • Statewide outreach and training on issues affecting people with low income and the supports that can help them prevent or move out of poverty

 
Maine Office of Child and Family Services (Maine Department of Human Services)

The Office of Child and Family Services (OCFS) serves Maine's children and their families through the Divisions of Child Welfare, Children's Behavioral Health, Early Childhood, and Public Service Management. Visit their

Every Child Matters Educational Fund
The Every Child Matters Education Fund is a (national) 501(c)(3) non-profit, non-partisan organization (with state level affiliates) working to make children, youth, and families a national political priority. We promote the adoption of smart policies for children and youth, including:
  • Ensuring that children have access to affordable, comprehensive health care services
  • Expanding early-care and learning opportunities and after-school programs
  • Preventing violence against children in their homes and communities
  • Alleviating child poverty, and
  • Addressing the special needs of children with parents in prison.

 
 
 
 
Voices for America’s Children
Voices for America’s Children is a nonpartisan, national organization committed to speaking out for the well-being of children at the federal, state and local levels of government. Since 1984, Voices has supported child advocates nationwide who have achieved public policy victories for children in early education, health, juvenile justice, child welfare, tax and budget decisions and other areas
